A frustrating time planting on the farm
1st October 2012
This has been one of the most frustrating planting seasons in memory due to the wet weather.
In short the land has been just too water logged to get on and as a result the winter wheat has been late getting into the ground. This will have a detrimental effect as we will not benefit from root and plant development this side of the cooler winter weather and resulting in yields suffering should we have a dry spring and summer. Enough gloom. At least our seed is in (about 200 acres) and we are better off than may other parts of the country. All credit to Dave and his drilling team.
