The Isle's potatoes go in.
Under contract to McCains, Adrian and his team grow some 70 acres of dry matter, early/main crop spuds, often winning awards for their efforts. As is the way with the world what leaves us as a ‘Top Class’ potato in July, next sees the light of day as an ‘oven ready chip’ on the supermarket shelves! This picture shows a field being ‘de-stoned’ prior to planting. All our Bed and Breakfast visitors are free to walk round The Estate to see for themselves a modern farm in action, which combines looking after nature with producing top class crops.
