I came back again as it was such a relaxing interesting visit a few years ago. Great to be remembered and spend an pleasant evening chatting , listening to Edwards fascinating knowledge of local history. Ask to see the little box of historical artefacts they have.
I stayed in the pink room again, overlooking the extensive grounds. The bed just softly supports you. The bath is huge and hot. Wifi is free and works in the room. I have noticed that this is not true in many older houses as the walls are so thick.

If you are looking for something a little different, affordably decadent... and down a rather long track, The Isle Estate in Shrewsbury is certainly worth a visit.
It's run by an absolutely charming family, who went out of their way to make us feel special. Natural hosts. Rooms were spotless, comfortable and peaceful. Coffee was excellent and breakfast was delicious. Can't comment on dinner as we ate out in town.
Sadly only stayed for one night, but will wrack brain to think of an excuse to book in again.

We have just returned from a three night stay at The Isle. What a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Edward and Ros are the perfect hosts, so friendly and gave us such a warm welcome. Our room, the Blue room was spacious with lovely views from the window seats. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Edward shared the history of the Isle and took the time to show us around, very interesting. He suggested places to visit and I spent a lovely day visiting the aqueduct, canal and Llangollen.

Staying at The Isle is a lovely surprise. It really is a Country House. The views are wonderful. The rooms etc. are gracious, beautifully laid out, and comprise a mixture of taste, comfort, and a splash of luxury. But what is more unusual is that for all the splendour of the surroundings, the welcome and hospitality is generous and genuine. The hosts, thoughtful, friendly and kind.
We woke up to a magical frosty morning after an arrival to tea and biscuits night before served in front of a log fire by Ed in the drawing room, Breakfa...
What a lovely place this is. The family could not have been more welcoming and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Breakfast was lovely. The rooms were inviting. Setting was idyllic. Everything was perfect and we joyed a relaxing stay.
