What an absolutely beautiful and magical place to spend a weekend!
My friend and I had arranged a weekend in Shrewsbury to not only look around the area but also spend an evening on a ghost tour in the Prison. We found the Isle Estate online and what a find!
We arrived down the very long country lane to find the entrance which is marked with two lovely old wall posts. The lane continues with some big speed humps along the way, however these did not cause us any real issues in a larger car. You may need to becareful when going down ...
I stayed at the Isle a couple of nights a week for 8 months whilst working in the area. Ros and Edward were great hosts, making me feel very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable and breakfasts great - nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy they were. I would recommend the Isle as a great place to stay whether doing some work or exploring the area.
Our stay at The Isle was a delight . Quintessentially English, a little bit eccentric and generous of their time and commitment to their guests' enjoyment and comfort Edward and Ros were the perfect hosts. All the boxes, and more, were ticked as far as the accommodation was concerned, not because they have to, but because they want to. Breakfast in the dining room surro...

We have stayed here many times before and this is our third different room. This time a view over the river with the horses feeding and running happily around the fields, geese and guinea fowl wandering around freely. All rooms are fabulously decorated and in a charming comfortable way. All the beds are really really comfy too. Breakfast is the best and I compare this to other hotels of high quality - and this IS the best. Ros and Edward and family are warm welcoming hosts. Why stay anywhere else? We will be back again for sure.

This was the most wonderful place to bring a horse. We rode out each day for two hours on the estate without putting foot on a road. Wonderful canters on the banks of the Severn, on headlands and across grassland. If we'd wanted to, we could have jumped any number of cross country fences, used the indoor or outdoor arenas or had a lesson. The bedroom was perfect too, very comfortable and a flask of milk provided for our early morning tea. Breakfast delicious. Hosts Ros and Edward extremely helpful and very friendly, nothing too much t...
