Watching 'Squirrel TV'
1st May 2012
Who needs a television when there is 'Squirrel TV' on hand.
Two of our avid squirrel watchers in action who so enjoy the show put on in the large Oak tree to the front of the house. Having hoped for rain we have got it in abundance. No sooner had a letter arrived from the environment agency warning of restrictions on water extraction from The Severn (we use the water to irrigate potatoes) it started to pour down. We need it after such a prolonged dry spell but hopefully now it has started it will not forget when to stop.
If you are looking for something a little different, affordably decadent... and down a rather long track, The Isle Estate in Shrewsbury is certainly worth a visit. It's run by an absolutely charming family, who went out of their way to make us feel special. Natural hosts. Rooms were spotless, comfortable and peaceful. Coffee was excellent and breakfast was delicious. Can't comment on dinner as we ate out in town. Sadly only stayed for one night, but will wrack brain to think of an excuse to book in again. A fabulous and un-expec...

We have just had the real pleasure of a four night stay at this splendid home from home. I cannot praise Ros and Edward enough for their warm welcome and unending efforts to make our stay nothing but a pleasure. A lovely couple and, indeed, a lovely family. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits served in the lounge whilst Edward did his best to book us in. This in itself was a great event as he is an enthusiastic conversationalist and, as I too love a natter, the booking in went frequently astray!! Introductions were made to family...

Just spent three nights enjoying the home of Ros and Edward Tate. They were extremely hospitable and made us all feel at home. Lovely home grown and cooked three course meals were provided every evening and were washed down with wine we had brought! Lovely surroundings and masses of animals everywhere was a winning combination for me.

Our stay at The Isle was a delight . Quintessentially English, a little bit eccentric and generous of their time and commitment to their guests' enjoyment and comfort Edward and Ros were the perfect hosts. All the boxes, and more, were ticked as far as the accommodation was concerned, not because they have to, but because they want to. Our room was attractive, large, clean and comfortable with an abundance of extras in the bathroom, an interesting selection of teas etc and oodles of reading material. Breakfast in the dining room surro...

This was our second visit to this wonderful place. But it's not just an impressively beautiful house with equally impressive and lovely grounds. It's all that for sure but it's above all owned and run by Edward and Ros, who are the nicest and most generous people you could ever meet. Nothing seems to bother or be too daunting for these 2. As Ros said, when you arrive you'd think they'd be posh and snotty, but they're not, not at all, they really make you feel at home from the second you go through the door. Edward and Ros, greeted...
