Flooding on the River Severn
1st January 2013
The River Severn has done what she always does when we have 'enjoyed' plenty of rain...namely burst her banks and left us farming a considerably reduced acreage.
Actually this scene will have been familiar to past generations and is all part of our farming cycle. We have taken flood meadows out of production and put them down to broad spectrum grasses to help manage downstream flooding, soil erosion and run off with the added benefit of providing wildlife habitats which have in the past few years flourished. Meanwhile there is a good showing of Snowdrops which we have been planting over the last six years.
