An unforgettable stay, can't wait to go back!

After a disastrous journey from Hamburg to Manchester and delay after delay we were greeted with a wonderful warm welcome from Edward as we arrived. He took care of our every need from a good cuppa on arrival, reserving us a table at a wonderful pub and a guided tour of the house, grounds and lake. We had lovely guests with us and a scrumptious breakfast with a breakfast fit for a king and queen! We discovered lots about the house, its history, the surrounding area and rare finds during a trip with the metal detector. Edward is a walking lexicon! We had a beautiful walk around the lake and visited the stunning horses. A truly unforgettable (if unfortunately very short) trip and can't wait to return. Thank you Edward and Ros.

Probably the best B&B in the country

We couldn't wait to visit the Isle Estate B&B again! This was our second visit and this time we were a party of five adults in three rooms.
From the moment we arrived Edward and Ros, and all the dogs and cats, gave us a tremendous welcome (we felt like old friends!) and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed or wanted. From finding us sherry glasses and nibbles - to serving up the most delicious dinner (including hand-picked vegetables, fruit, and eggs from the estate) in the grand oak-paneled dining room - to luxuriously comfy beds with lovely crisp bed linen. The spectacular views from all bedrooms are to die for - lake, trees, horses, and sheep, and a hidden heated swimming pool also makes a nice surprise.
In the morning we also enjoyed a 3-4 mile walk around the lake, a swim in the pool, and great conversations with Edward ... not to mention the most exceptional breakfast, that few hotels or B&Bs could rival.
Sorry if this sounds gushy ... but we will definitely be trying to find an excuse to go back for the third time!

Super hosts great time

Ted couldnt do enough for us arrived by canoe, collected from the river and stayed in a lovely estate home. Which is not stuffy but so lovely and welcoming. Room was lovely and breakfast was great. See you soon.

Beautiful property and surroundings

This is the second time that we have stayed at the Isle Estate, this time in a different room.
Plenty of space, with a double bed and two single beds. Room was clean and comfortable with lovely views of the surrounding estate . If you like the countryside this B&B is a must.
The breakfast was fantastic, using local produce and Edward was so welcoming and helpful.
Shrewsbury is just a short drive into town for approximately £7 in a taxi. Where there are excellent pubs and restaurants.

Understated gem!

Unforeseen trip meant desperate hunt to find accommodation last minute - but from the moment I called and spoke to the owners, they couldn't have been more helpful.
A particular theme throughout our stay! Text messages before we arrived to advise how to access the property if arriving late; a welcome party when we arrived with offers of help, refreshments and a tour to ensure we were comfortable.
Located in a beautiful estate, if you love the countryside and a little slice of your own peace, then this place is phenomenal. Rustic charm you would expect to find in a historical mansion, modern amenities (WiFi, TV, etc) in the rooms, superb hearty breakfasts and enough activities to do outside to keep two young kids occupied for hours!
I could not recommend this place enough and both Edward, Ros and their family were charming. We'll definitely be coming back and bringing friends with us for a weekend getaway.

"A beautiful house, great food, welcoming environment, friendly, knowledgeable and very hospitable hosts... all set within the stunning Shropshire countryside. A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing break. "

"I came back again as it was such a relaxing interesting visit a few years ago. Great to be remembered and spend an pleasant evening chatting , listening to Edwards fascinating knowledge of local history. Ask to see the little box of historical artefacts they have. I stayed in the pink room again, overlooking the extensive grounds. The bed just softly supports you. The bath is huge and hot. Wifi is free and works in the room. I have noticed that this is not true in many older houses as the walls are so thick. Breakfast is lovely with a wide choice. Eggs from the chickens that walk about the grounds.... Can't get any fresher than that hey? Plenty of parking. Such a quiet area. Long drive up to the house, plenty of pull overs for passing traffic. If you love horses then this is a place to stay ... Or dogs or cats....lots of animals to make a fuss over."

"I stayed at the Isle a couple of nights a week for 8 months whilst working in the area. Ros and Edward were great hosts, making me feel very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable and breakfasts great - nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy they were. I would recommend the Isle as a great place to stay whether doing some work or exploring the area."

"Just one note of caution- try not to arrive after dark. The speed humps are not very easy to see in darkness, then its quite easy to get lost in the farmyard even when you are almost at the house. Once we did thread our way through though, the welcome was warm and relaxing. A pot of tea served by a roaring log fire in the sitting room was very welcome. We'd chosen the Blue and White Room, which was very comfortable. Loads of fun trying to figure out the massage settings on the bed! We'd opted to dine in on both evenings, reasoning that once we were ensconced there was no point scuttling out again. The first night's three course supper was beautifully presented and delicious, accompanied by the wines we'd brought along. After supper, a most diverting couple of hours were whiled away with Edward; the three of us scrabbling through his fascinating collection of artifacts recovered from the grounds. Breakfast was a sumptuous affair. Pre-ordered each evening, the excellent full English could not be bettered. Our one regret was that we didn't stay longer, but there's always next time. We'll probably try the Pink Room, just out of curiosity."

"If you stay anywhere in Shrewsbury, stay here. The welcome is second to none, the house is beautiful and you are made to feel like a member of the family the whole time. Highly recommended!"

- Richard & Jane - November 2015

"Just spent three nights enjoying the home of Ros and Edward Tate. They were extremely hospitable and made us all feel at home. Lovely home grown and cooked three course meals were provided every evening and were washed down with wine we had brought! Lovely surroundings and masses of animals everywhere was a winning combination for me."
